AgriSmart is a sustainable development partner of the Côte d’Ivoire government helping breathe life into their reforestation initiatives and economy with palm oil trees.

Oil palms are originally from West Africa in Côte d’Ivoire and surrounding countries, where it flourishes as a native vegetation and a symbiotic inhabitant of the natural habitat providing benefits to plant diversity, wildlife, and the native people.

Palm oil has received a lot of bad press over the last few years. Giant multinational corporations have garnered the ire of environmental and humanitarian activists with their development of massive monoculture palm oil plantations in Malaysia, Indonesia, and South America. These organizations employ locals for pennies a day and send the real profits overseas, while using harsh, non-eco-friendly chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Resultants of these practices include the elimination of vegetation diversity, the destruction of soil quality, the wiping out of habitats in their host countries, and endangerment of native species to near extinction, such as the orangutan and sumatran tiger.

AgriSmart is changing the face of palm oil production. The sustainable business model of AgriSmart embraces reducing labor and increasing profitability for farm employees through the use of modernized, sustainable, intensive agriculture methods. AgriSmart's dedication to inclusive business includes providing farm workers in Côte d’Ivoire with higher-than-average-paying jobs, supporting racial and gender equality in our equal opportunity hiring policies, along with supplying free healthcare and furnishing free smart housing to Côte d’Ivoire employees.
