Music is the universal language of mankind. ~ Henry Wadsworth LongfellowPictured below at the celebration following his chief coronation ceremony, AgriSmart Chairman, H. David Meyers (bio), plays on his oboe the 4th movement of Beethoven Choral Symphony number 9, Ludwig van Beethoven's final complete symphony. AgriSmart Chief of Staff, Walt Warme, Jr (bio), who accompanied H. David on the occasion, remembers it as magical, recounting the entire village sang the song, without words, in unison with perfect pitch and rhythm, while the drummers picked up the tempo and added an African beat. Music truly is the universal language of mankind. H. David Meyers is a chief of the Assokro Village in Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), West Africa. Assokoro means village of Asso. Asso is the founder of the village and grandmother of AgriSmart Vice President of Ivorian Palm Oil Operations, Claude Michel Dutauziet, MD (bio). The tribe is a branch of the Ashanti kingdom, Claude tells, a famous kingdom that was exceedingly rich in gold from the many gold mines in their kingdom. H. David Meyers is a chief of the tribe, chief of the land. H. David's name in the tribe is NaNa Asso-Dutauziet Kouassi 1st, may God bless him. Claude informs that is the way the tribe speaks the name of a chief by adding the blessing of God upon him. Through his combined leadership roles as chief of the village and chairman of AgriSmart, H. David Meyers is in a position to help the Assokoro Village in their achievment of sustainability by providing clean running water, schools for the children, and medicine for the tribe. As a sustainable development partner with the national governement of Côte d'Ivoire, AgriSmart, Inc. is leading the way in realization of sustainable development goals for all Ivorians, including the tribe of Assokoro Village.
