Effective August 2013, AgriSmart, Inc. was awarded over 1 million acres of land for farming and forestry through a partnership with SODEFOR  Society for Development of Forests, a government agency in Cote d’Ivoire. SODEFOR has agreed to lease AgriSmart a 20 year tenancy of certified forests and land for cultivating corn and other agricultural products while creating better-than-average-wage jobs.

Cote d’Ivoire covers 322,463 sq. km, which is slightly larger than the state of New Mexico. The country’s soil is rich with nutrients, which is ideal for farming.
